The classic 1955 Chris Craft Cobra 21 speed boat is a beautiful runabout model that is sure to become a treasured family heirloom. Replace the rotted broadstrakes and shearstrakes. We are at the most enjoyable point in each of our restoration projects. This model measures 33' long from bow to stern.Replace the rotted ribs (8 - 12, towards in the stern).Re-fasten the strakes except for the rotted ones. Remove the deck and replace the stem above the forefoot, the breasthook and stem cap.I'm looking for some advice on the order by which to tackle these issues. The keel and keelson is in good shape, as is the transom and the ribs other then the handful near the stern. Also, during one winter, a large branch fell on the boat during an ice storm and severely cracked on of the strakes between the garboard and the bilge turn. The breasthook and stem near the breasthook are also rotted. Several ribs have rotted near the gunwales, and the rub rails and inwales need to be replaced. The shearstrakes as well as the next two lower broadstrakes are rotted and will need to be replaced. I have to deal with some significant rot. For the past 30 years or so, it's been upside down on sawhorses under some tarps in my parent's backyard. It spent most of it's time on Thompson Lake in Maine. I remember it as a kid and learned to waterski behind it.
